The view

When Indonesia actually opens up

Indonesia's working window is April through October — dry, warm, with the rice terraces still green from the recent rains in May and June. July and August are peak; ceremony calendars are at full tilt and rates climb. November through March is the green season — daily afternoon downpours, surf chop, and villa rates 30–40% off if you don't mind the rhythm. The genuine sweet spot is May or September.
