Lufthansa Allegris Business Suite

Allegris is structurally different from any business cabin in service because Lufthansa sells seven sub-categories within a single business cabin: Standard, Extra Long Bed, Extra Space, Throne, Privacy Suite, Suite, and Suite Plus. The pricing premium between the cheapest standard suite and Suite Plus runs roughly 30 percent on cash fares and a similar gap on award redemptions. Munich is the launch hub — A350-900s on Munich to Chicago, Boston, and San Francisco are confirmed Allegris through 2026 — while Frankfurt receives the product progressively on the 747-8 retrofit programme and on new A350 deliveries originally destined for the cancelled 777X order.

The Suite Plus product is the genuine differentiator: an enclosed cabin at the bulkhead with a full sliding door, an 84-inch bed that converts to a true double for couples on the same booking, separate seat and bed footprint, and a wardrobe that fits a hanging suit. It is functionally first-class hardware sold under a business-class label, and the cash premium over a standard Allegris suite is consistently lower than the equivalent Lufthansa First fare on the legacy 747-8 product. Throne seats — single window seats with side consoles on both flanks — are the next-best pick when Suite Plus is sold out.

Service has historically been the European weak point, and Allegris does not fully close the gap to Asian peers. The four-course dine-on-demand programme works as advertised on Munich-originating flights but the catering on inbound sectors from US gateways still lags. Bedding is included on Suite Plus only — standard Allegris suites get a duvet but no mattress pad, and pyjamas are not offered in any sub-cabin. The Wi-Fi platform on the A350 fleet runs at $17 for an unlimited long-haul pass with streaming-grade bandwidth, which is competitive with the Asian carriers.

On points, Air Canada Aeroplan at 70,000 miles one-way Munich to North America is the cheapest Allegris redemption — transfers from American Express Membership Rewards and Capital One run 1:1 with periodic 25 to 35 percent bonuses, putting a Suite Plus redemption inside 50,000 transferred points after a bonus window. Avianca LifeMiles at 63,000 is technically cheaper but charges no fuel surcharge, which makes the all-in cost the lowest in the genre. Suite Plus is bookable on points at the Aeroplan saver rate when Lufthansa releases space — typically 14 to 30 days before departure as upgrade inventory clears.
